Walter Branson

Upon high school graduation I put myself through Sam Houston in Huntsville, (double major Physical Education and Biology) by painting and remodeling. I moved back to Brazosport in 1974 to attend nursing school to become an Anesthetist. I realized that sitting still did not work with my ADHD and that I would go to sleep with the patient. I left nursing and continued my construction business. I officially started in 1968 so I guess I have been doing it for over fifty years now. In 1980 I purchased my first rental property and now have forty something. I went back to LeTourneau in 1994 majored in business. I thought that since I have been doing it for 26 years I should learn something about it. I have been very blessed. I also took English at Brazosport College at the old Lanier Campus in the summer 1969. I was so glad to get my English out the way only to go back to Sam and fail the Greek stuff and have to take it over again in the spring. I love tennis and played 3 or 4 times a week until a couple of years ago when my knees couldn't take it anymore. I love just about everything about the outdoors. I also am director of the Guerrero Surgery and Education Center in Guerrero, Chihuahua, Mexico where I lead medical professionals to do free clinics for the poor in the mountains of Chihuahua, Mexico.(Cooper Canyon area) I go 4 to 6 times a year. I love to travel and eat at fine restaurants. I have been a member of the Brazosport Rotary for over 39 years. Rotary has enabled me to give back to the community in a much greater capacity than I could as a small businessman.

One day while in Mr. Ballard's class in one of the temporary buildings and sitting in the back of the room I pulled the plug to the clock part way out to expose the metal prongs. I then droped a paper clip across the prongs which shorted the circuit and the lights went out of course it took a while for someone to find and reset the triped breaker so we had a long recess from class that day.
